31 day challenge day 8- monochrome

So monochrome....initially i was going to do a different shades of the same colour type monochrome, largely because i hate working with white and dislike working with black almost as much. So why the random switch? Well, while browsing pinterest (pinterest is always to blame) i stumbled across the image I've included of cirque du soleil. I don't know why but i just loved the strong lines of this picture and really fancied using them in a mani.

So here we are. I like the basic idea but I'm a little annoyed with the result tbh. Often i get frustrated because i think other people could do a better job...on this occasion though I'm just annoyed because i know i could have done a better job. Ah well I'm just feeling a bit lazy toys week. Also, streaking on the index finger, really?! I used a red ages ago that bled like mad and I'm still getting traces in my top coat!!

Ah well polishes are both nails Inc- floral street and black taxi. Think the studs were from born pretty store but I'm  not really sure. Ho hum. x

31 day challenge day 7- pink and aqua

Brought to you by UK indies (and no barry m! Lol).
I had lots of vague idea for this floating around my head...but then i came down with the dreaded plague (or, you know, a cold haha) and I'm feeling lazy. So what we have is a very simple dotticure with  freckles polish he's been he's been! And dark metal lacquer gas in veins. The freckles polish arrived today and i just had to use it haha. So that sorted the pink. The DML is maybe stretching the definition of aqua a bit but i wanted another holo. Oh yea, they're holos...a fact which totally fails to show up in my photos! Sorry about that I'll take proper pics of the freckles soon :).

So there you are. Simples. But i actually rather like it, i love the two polishes anyway so am is well haha. Check out what all the non lazy ladies habe been doing, via the in linkz. x

31 day challenge day 6- half and half

Half and half? Randomly the only thing that would come into my head for this was coffee (my nanny drinks 'half and half' (water and milk) coffee) haha. So it took me a while to come up with anything!

But eventually i settled on half stamped nails. And shock horror we have another thumb-rug accent. Although actually toys time it wasn't entirely deliberate- i was going to use the pattern on my thumb and ring for all five fingers....except i realised the pattern is bigger than my nails! Haha. I kinda wish I'd started again and just done all roses but ho hum i was being lazy ;).
I love black and gold together (plus gold is easy to stamp :p)...bit in the end I made a last minute substitution for this very deep purple as a background colour. Just because i like purple really haha.

Had it not been for that switch i might finally have succeeded in producing a mani which didn't contain a single barry m polish haha. As it is we have Barry m nightshade as the base and maybelline winner takes all (i think? I appear to have polished over the name haha) for the stamping.

And let's just talk about the stamping for a second. The image comes from moyou London pro plate 04, which i got in a stamping set for Christmas from my brother's girlfriend. So much excitement for that! Haha. The kit contained a stamper and scraper, the polishes and two plates (04 and 08). Seriously so happy with this gift haha.

Aaanyway I'm blathering on again! haha. Nitpicking aside (there's a thin patch on the purple on my ring finger for example!) I'm actually quite happy with this one so that's a bonus :). x

Ps. I'm not sure why the colours are so odd in these photos, my hands assents that red, honest! Lol. Maybe it's the bright background (I'm trying to remember to take photos with pain backgrounds instead of the clutter of my room/bathroom...unfortunately said background is my bedsheets haha). x

31 day challenge day 5- dotting tools

Another day, another prompt...i kinda didn't know where to start today, i love dotting tools but there's such a broad range of things to do with them that i struggled to narrow it down!
In the end i turned to pinterest for help (of course haha) and found this cute penguin pattern that i pinned a while back. Now, let's be honest, if yesterday was a case of ambition exceeding ability then today is off the scale over ambitious haha. My hands aren't really steady enough for teeny tiny work (yay, anxiety! Lol)...bit i did enjoy playing about doing these so I'm not that bothered. And i do think the pattern would be quite effective in the hands of a decent nail artist!

Oh and it was another 'I'm going to do a thumb and ring accent because I'm too lazy to do all five nails' day haha. Though i do think it would have been a bit cluttered if I'd done penguins on all five (and i did do both hands! Lol).

Polishes. White is nails Inc floral street. Green is color club mint apple (again) black is nails Inc black taxi (again!) And grey is Barry m chai (yet again!!!). I don't know why I've been using the same polishes over and over this week haha. Though i am a little obsessed with the grey atm haha.

Oh well, i hope you like. I've included the image i copied so you can see what it should look like lol. X

31 day challenge day 4- happiness

Ah ok so I'll confess i was wildly geeky with my interpretation of this prompt! But hey a little geekery makes me happy too so it's all gravy :p.

Soo what have we? Little bit of psychology/biology fun. The thumb is serotonin and the ring is dopamine. These are two neurotransmitters found in the brain. Dopamine is in part responsible for feelings of pleasure. Serotonin is...a little uncertain but it's thought to be connected to depression and anxiety (or rather lack thereof) amongst other things. It is the chemical that modern anti depressants aim to increase levels of. Speaking of which, the green and yellow is my little 'joke'- they're the colour of prozac capsules haha.

This is one of those manis that suffered from the disparity between what i want to do and what I'm actually capable of doing! Lol. The drawing is pretty scruffy...bit it was better than i expected so I'll take it!

Polishes. Um well lots haha. The dark yellow is tarastalons sandcastles (my bottle is nearly empty *cries*) and the dark green is tarastalons toy train. Light yellow and green are both color club- unicorn and mint apple . Black is nails Inc black taxi again. Blue and red are nails Inc too- baker street and the hurlingham.

So yea, those are my happy, geeky nails haha. X

Ps. And a random silly picture hehe. x

31 day challenge day 3- water spotting

Ah water spotting. I tried this technique for the first time a couple weeks ago and i love it :). I like the effect and i enjoy playing around and making a mess, cos I'm a child :p. The only slight problem is....well I'm not very good at it! Haha.

Oh well, onwards! In a fit of extreme laziness two of the colours are the same as yesterday. We therefore have Barry m chai and pomegranate doing an encore, joined by opi my boyfriend scales walls and nails Inc black taxi. I kept the two accents for many reasons. I'll be honest, the first was further laziness...less nails to water spot haha. But i also wanted to brighten it up a bit from black, white and grey (we gave monochrome coming up afterall). And besides, as I've said before, i just like a thumb/ring accent haha. X

31 day challenge day 2- striping tape

Oof, oh dear only day two and in already pushing the deadline! I don't know where time has gone today.

Anyway mani today is fairly self explanatory...i really enjoy the whole argyll thing. Though this didn't turn out that well and is scruffier than I'd like. I had opacity issues with the white/cream haha...i felt a bit stupid but then i read the Crumpet's post and saw she had similar issues so that made me feel a little better given she's like awesome and clever and stuff haha.

Polishes are all barry m (only just realised that haha)- pomegranate, coconut and Chai.

And that's about it lol. X

31 day challenge day 1- tutorial

Ah ok so i aid i was going to post more....and instead i disappeared! Motivation is a huge issue right now, avoidance is the name of the game and I'm sticking my head in the sand about a lot of things.
But i miss nails and blogging. So I've decided to do something a little mental and join the 31 day challenge on crumpet's nail tarts. Bit of an extreme dive into the deep end but ho hum, kill or cure right?!

Oh dear so many words and i haven't even started talking about the mani! I did this a week or so ago now. My friend shared some monkey charity day  thing on Facebook and i joked that i should try out this tutorial by adventures in acetone,  in honour of the occasion. So I did haha. And i think they're rather cute...execution isn't that great but I'm still reasonably pleased with the result :). There are lots of polishes here! The base is a saran wrap mani of Barry m cardamom and a-England St George (i actually kinda really liked the base lol). Monkey is Barry m cocoa and barry m caramel (sounds tasty haha). The black and white are both nails Inc, floral street and new york noir.

Phew! That was long. Anyway onwards and upwards, tomorrow is tape and i like tape so here goes we'll see how far i get :p. Oh and don't forget to check out everyone else via the in linkz dewberry. X
